HBA Tour Blog

Welcome to the HBA (Homes by Architects) Tour Blog! In case you are unaware, the HBA Tour has been showcasing the work of all-star architects in the area since 2008. It was created by the Residential Architects Committee of the professional organization for architects in the state: The American Institute of Architects Minnesota (AIA Minnesota).  The group that actually plans the tour, the Tour Committee, is comprised of 6 AIA Minnesota members and 6 affiliated members who volunteer their time to ensure that the tour continues to deliver by sharing diverse homes by local architects.

It’s important to note that these architects have collaborative homeowners as clients and they truly respect their privacy. It has been rare that the public and tour committee members get a sneak peak at the homes on the tour. This year we are going to preview the homes prior to the tour and meet the most compelling people behind the design: the homeowners.

We often talk about other design partners’ roles in the process and how products were selected for the home. Many of these companies and professionals sponsor the tour, meaning they financially support the tour. And because these are not spec homes and no set arrangements are made by AIA Minnesota to require or suggest specific products, tour-goers will truly see what the homeowner choses and why – no bias.

We’ll be featuring sneak peaks and previews into the upcoming tour, so take a look and be sure to join us September 22-23, 2013 to see some inspiring work from our members!
